This cookbook is for my children and grandchildren, so the food we grew up with can always have a place at our table. I hope these recipes bring back memories of noisy kitchens, long lunches and everyone asking for seconds.
My mother taught me to cook by watching, tasting and learning as we went. She rarely measured anything, but somehow every dish came out just right. So much of the way I cook today comes from her, and this book carries a little piece of her with it.
Gravce Tavce is my favourite because it reminds me of home. I have made it for birthdays, Sunday lunches, unexpected visitors and ordinary weeknights. Whenever I make it, the smell fills the kitchen and brings back years of memories. It is one of those dishes that feels like family to me.
The three recipes visitors have taken to their own kitchens most often.
