Mum’s Cookbook Studio

Frequently Asked Questions

The things people ask before they start.

What is this?

A place to write your recipes down and turn them into a website your family can visit from anywhere. You pick how it looks, add your recipes, and share one link.

What does it cost?

Nothing today. Payments are not connected, so there is no card to enter and nothing can be charged. A paid plan is planned; nobody will be billed without being told first.

Who can see my cookbook?

Only you, until you publish it. Once published, anyone with the link can read it — there is no password on a published cookbook, so treat the link as the key. You can unpublish at any time.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. Signing in creates the cookbook — there is nothing to install and nothing to set up. If you can take a photograph on a phone and type, you can use it.

Can I write my recipes in my own language?

Yes. Recipes can be written in any language. If you photograph handwritten recipes, you choose the language they are written in and the language you want them saved in — so a notebook in Croatian, Greek or Macedonian can become a cookbook your grandchildren can read in English.

How does reading recipes from photographs work?

You photograph the cards or notebook pages and upload them. AI reads the handwriting, types the recipes up in the language you chose, and files them into the right chapter.

Is it always right?

No, and this is worth knowing. Handwriting is hard to read, and a number or a word can come out wrong — so can a translation. Anything it could not make out is marked, and every imported recipe is flagged for you to check against the photograph, side by side. Treat what it produces as a first draft, not a finished recipe.

What happens to my photographs?

They are stored with your cookbook. A photograph is only ever sent to be read if you use the photo-import feature. Who touches your data is set out on the Privacy Policy.

Can I use my own web address?

Not at the moment. Your cookbook has its own address on this site, which is what you share with family.

Can I get my recipes out again?

[TO CONFIRM — export is not built yet. Decide whether it ships before charging; being able to leave with your own work is the sort of thing people ask about before they trust a service with a lifetime of recipes.]

How do I delete everything?

Account & billing in the studio, at the bottom. It removes your recipes, your photographs and your account straight away. It cannot be undone, so it asks you to confirm.
